Randy Matusow Photography

For over a quarter of a century, Randy Matusow has used her camera to document ordinary lives with extraordinary perception. Her trained eye and intuitive sense of timing are the key factors that make up her unique style. Her candid and formal portraits resonate with warmth, humor, and depth.

After receiving her B.F.A from Rhode Island School of Design, Randy moved to New York City to work as a photo researcher at Magnum Photos. While living in New York, she began freelancing as a photographer for magazines such as Esquire, Connoisseur, Working Woman, London Sunday Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Fortune, and Forbes.

Randy's own studio work includes touching and insightful portraits of children, families, and celebrities. As a location photographer, Randy has traveled extensively, using her artistic eye to bring new perspective to interiors, landscapes, and street scenes from around the world. Randy also enjoys photographing happy occasions and specializes in capturing one-of-a-kind moments at weddings, galas, and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.

Randy is a dedicated teacher of photography. She has taught at the Art Workshop in White Plains, N.Y., the International Center of Photography in New York City, and currently at City College in N.Y., and Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y.

Randy's work is widely exhibited. Her photographs are in the permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of the City of New York. She was a Fulbright finalist and is the recipient of the Women's Research and Development Fund Grant from The City University of New York.
